I was at the Alderwood Mall on Monday, trying to find the As Seen on TV store. I wanted to get a Blow and Go (it's to hold your hairdryer, dirty bird), but it turns out they didn't have one. Curses. So, on my way out of the mall, I passed a store called Daiso.Have you heard of it?
I have gone by a quite a few times before, but never gone in. You know how that goes. But I needed a little gift for a co-worker's birthday, so I thought I'd pop in and check it out.
From the outside, you can see that Daiso carries little knick-knacks like mugs and kitchen stuff. I thought maybe I'd get some coasters or something fun like that. I walked in, and I was amazed! Daiso is basically a Japanese dollar store (except it seemed like everything was a $1.50, unless otherwise marked), but everything is cute and doesn't seem crappy, like regular dollar stores.
I was entranced! They had tiny erasers, kitchen supplies, odd laundry washing accoutrements, food stuffs, make-up, soap, false eyelashes, notepads and on and on! I didn't want to leave! I wanted to buy everything! Even things that I don't need - like plastic rug beaters with adorable little cartoon faces.
I bought a tiny basket for my co-worker (I plan to put a primrose in it), some tissue packets (they all have animated characters on them, kind of like Pikachu or Hello Kitty, but not), and some face oil blotting sheets. Each item was only $1.50. I. am. in. love. (And I am not the only one - there is a Flickr page of pics of Daiso purchases.)
I must go back soon! I need some stickers, pens, erasers, candy shaped like sushi, teeny sauce containers for my lunch, mugs shaped like hedgehogs, more face blotting sheets and I need it all NOW!
