Aaron and I saw that the Gainsbourg Lounge was open on Friday, so we popped in for a drink. We were able to score a booth and quickly perused the beer offerings.
Elated, we saw that a pint of PBR is only $2! So, we both ordered one and settled in to survey our surroundings.
Each booth has a kitschy lamp. Our booth had a vintage ceramic ship lamp.
The booth next to us had a cool outdoor scene on the shade with trees and mountains. It reminded me of a Hamm's advertisement.
Projected on the back wall was a black and white French film. It was fun to glance up at and in the film, and even though I didn't recognize which film it was, I did enjoy seeing a couple Citroens in the street scenes of the movie - a Charelston or a Dolly 2CV (not sure which) and DS 19 or 20 (or thereabouts).
We also read over the food menu, which looked like it had some unique and also classic offerings.
As we were sipping our beers, we looked up and saw a familiar face - Angela from the Tin Hat! She is now bartending at Gainsbourg, so that was fun to talk with her. We also talked a bit to JJ, who said that they will be serving cocktails soon.
Later, we picked some tunes on the jukebox, which is packed with great song choices. Aaron and I filled it up with things like the Cure, the Beastie Boys, Serge Gainsbourg (of course), My Bloody Valentine, Tom Waits and The Duchess and the Duke, just to name a few.
It was a great evening and I'm so excited that Gainsbourg is just down the street from us. It's exactly what Greenwood needed in a bar and I'm happy they are open!
