In addition to eating in Portland, we also shopped in Portland. Down the street from the Jupiter are a handful of cool shops. We went to Bombshell Vintage
where I got two purses
and Aaron got a button down shirt.
A bit further down Burnside
we stopped into Redux.
After narrowing my picks down to three necklaces, I decided on this one by Lucky Loo Loo.
Aaron got some record art by Beth Myrick. (Scroll down the Redux's page and you can see the reclaimed record art.)
I also noticed that up the street was a store with a big Hippopotamus on the column outside. What could that be? Wait. What? It was Hippo Hardware!!
I went to Hippo Hardware with my Dad when I was in fourth grade. He and my Mom were restoring our 1930's house in Olympia to reclaim its original charm. They needed vintage light fixtures, faucets, and doorknobs to complete the project. Hippo Hardware has everything you could imagine -
like salvaged claw foot bathtubs, vintage doors, vintage windows, salvaged drawer pulls and door hinges. It's amazing. Aaron and I didn't get to go in this time because they were closed, but I had to call my Dad and tell him about it.
That's about all the shopping we did in Portland. We did stop at Buffalo Exchange and Red Light in the Pearl District, but weren't too successful....sooo, on the way back to Seattle, we made a pit stop at H&M. Southcenter was a zoo, but we persevered and found some great stuff. I love H&M.
Shopping in Portland was awesome, too. Next time we go back, I am going to Redux again for sure.
