Shoe Travails

So, I'm sure you're all on pins and needles waiting to hear how my shoe expedition went last weekend. Well, let me tell you, it's not all chocolate boxes and roses out there in the marketplace.

After trying on a good twenty five pairs of shoes, I decided upon these Easy Spirit loafers.
The pairing of the brand "Easy Spirit" and the word "loafer" is cringeworthy to be sure. However, I thought, well, you can't see the foamy part at the top when I'm standing up because my pants cover that part. So, I'm home free. Plus, these shoes are just wear to work and won't be used for any type of par-tay. (Not to worry. I can still mince from my front door to the parking garage and then from the car to the bar in my tall black patent leather boots. It's not all comfort all the time.)

Anyway, after the SAS shoe debacle, I was careful to wear the Easy Spirits indoors and on carpet only. After a few days, I realized that the tightness of the leather over my toes was not easing up, and, wait, that digging feeling every time I took a step? Yes, that was the leather bending into the top of my foot.

My next steps? (Oh, I do love puns.) Well, first, I plan to return the Easy Spirits to Macy's and then check out the wares at DSW at Northgate. If that doesn't work, I am going to seriously consider having shoes made at this shoe store that I read about in the paper called Rubaiyat. (Although, I would opt for something flat in plain black leather and not blue or zebra stripe.) I've never had shoes made for me, but there's a first time for everything. Maybe that's what I'll spend my tax refund on from old G Dubya.

So, the saga continues...

Hey - have you tried Dansko's? The soles tend to be a little big but I LOOOOOVE mine. They're orthopedic something or other approved...yet still stylish. Might be worth a try. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the outcome of this quest you're on...

Hey there! Well, sadly DSW didn't have anything that would work. So I ended up buying jeans at Ross. Go figure. I have tried on Danskos, but they feel weird on my feet. But my hairstylist and a girl I used to work with both love them. I might stop looking for shoes for a while and hope that it's like when you stop dating and decide to be single and then meet the perfect person. I've got my fingers crossed! :-)
