Tejas

We started out on the trip to Texas on Thanksgiving Day with a tasty breakfast at the new Anthony's in the Seatac airport. I had oatmeal with fresh fruit, which I can't recommend enough. Yum!

After a fairly uneventful flight (I went sans meds, but they were showing "Home for the Holidays" on the plane, so that kept me entertained. Here's a shout out to Uncle Leo!) and we landed on time in San Antonio.

My brother and his girlfriend picked up and whisked us to our hotel. We were a little hungry, so we found an IHOP that was close by and open, even on Thanksgiving. Before we were seated, they asked us if we wanted smoking or non. I had completely forgotten about that since the indoor smoking ban has been in effect here in Washington for a while.

The next day, we had Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings at my brother's house with his girlfriend and her family. After dinner, we had a few drinkies and then my brother busted out some funny hats and reindeer antlers (they were starting to decorate for Christmas, and what Christmas is complete without amusing headwear?). I couldn't resist putting them on Deuce. I'm lucky he is good with children (and annoying adults).

I didn't try to put holiday hats on my brother's fish, however, because I value all ten of my digits. The fish is a pirrahna named Chopper.

Saturday, I met up with an old friend from high school that lives in Austin. She came to get me and we went out to lunch at a BBQ place called Rudy's. I had no idea what to order, so I got beans and a quarter pound of ribs. (As it turns out, a quarter pound is only one rib. Who knew?) It was fun to catch up and do a lot of "remember when" about high school. Next time I'll have to get up to Austin to see her!

Saturday night, I came down with a cold, but I soldiered through until we flew home on Sunday night. (I am completely zonked out on OTC cold meds as I type this. Ooooh, my head feels floaty....)

It was fun to visit my brother and to get to meet his dog and see his house, but I am glad to be home!
