As you know, I'm always on the lookout for new products - particularly skin clearing products. I used Proactiv like Kelly, Lindsey and Jessica, but after a while it just seemed to dry my skin out and then I ran out of the toner and I didn't want to shell out the cash to buy a new set. So, I stopped using it. My skin seemed ok for a while and then my chin started breaking out again.Damn zits. All through high school, I always longed for the day that I'd hit my 20s when my skin would surely be clear as a bell. And I certainly figured that when I was in my 30s, I would be fighting wrinkles and not acne. How wrong I was....sniff.
Anyway, when I got an email update from QVC that Bare Minerals had a new product called Blemish Therapy, I was skeptical, yet hopeful.
I read all the reviews about this new products and it was a mixed bag. Some people thought it worked great, but did they have bad skin to start with? You never know. Other people complained about the sulphur smell, which really worried me. I am very sensitive to smells.
But, like the beauty gambler that I am (insert appropriate Kenny Rogers song as needed), I ordered it and counted down the days until it appeared in my mailbox. I was so excited when it arrived and I was able to rip open the package.
The Blemish Therapy comes in a small pot, just like the Bare Minerals multi-tasking minerals. It also comes with a small brush. It is a white powder and it has a hint of a medicinal smell, but I'd say it's a bit more Tea Tree than sulphur. Not that bad, really.
I faithfully applied it every night after cleansing (with Cetaphil cleanser for oily skin) and moisturizing (with Neutrogena face lotion). It's been about a month now, and I gotta say, it really seems to be helping! I even had a monster zit that was forming on my chin a few days ago (you know, the big hurty red kind) and it was gone after a few days! So, I can't say for sure whether this is the answer to my prayers, but it seems like it so far. (Fingers crossed that it won't suddenly make me break out in a rash of hives or something.)
Right now, you can only buy this on QVC. (Yeah, I'll cop to it. I check in with the "Q" from time to time. I'm a sucker for the make-up shows.) I think it will be in regular stores early next year. But if you ask me nicely, I might let you try some!
