Not A Number

Last time I went in to get my hair cut, my hairstylist had just bought a very trendy wallet that I proceeded to covet. (But don't worry, I didn't bash in a display window and steal some stinky perfume like some people.) The wallet was white with a fun pattern on it and I had to know where it was from. My stylist said she got it a little shop called Not a Number. Intrigued, I filed that info away for future reference.

So, this past Saturday, I remembered the tip with my keen shopping memory, and went there to check it out.

Well, was I glad I did! Not a Number has a collection of silly, gross, fun and weird gifts and kitschiness galore. I spent about an hour just looking at everything, which is saying a lot, because I sometimes get bored in small shops. Not a Number is like a mix of Archie McPhee's, a cute shop in Ballard and Spencer Gifts. They had latte scented soap shaped like dog poop! Handmade by a local artisan, of course. See what I mean?

I also had the good fortune to find this lovely luggage tag.

Can't quite read the text? How about if I zoom in for you...(I'm obsessed with the magnifying glass setting on the camera.)

Isn't it great! I DO love not camping! How very perfect.

The other fun thing they do is give you a chance to answer a variety of trivia questions when you check out. The question that I chose was: Name at least three countries that only border one other country. I came up with Canada, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Lesotho. So I got a discount! (I think it was 50 cents off my total. Sweet!)

Next time I need a cute gift topper for a birthday present, I will be making a bee-line for Not a Number. (Need more 'staches? Because they have those, too.) They also have hilarious greeting cards, fun market bags, and Dirty Girl and Cute as Hell bath products, if you want something for your friends who aren't as easily amused by poop soap as I am.
