Computer Armoire: Dream or Reality?

After doing both of the closet re-orgs, I was hell bent for leather on organization throughout the condo. Watching HGTV like it's my religion solidified my need to make everything "open house" ready. (Even though we have no plans to sell any time soon.)

So, the bane of my existence has been the computer desk in our second bedroom/office. Electronics (with rare exceptions) are ugly. Wires and buttons and crap are things I want to be able to shut away when not in use. The t.v. armoire in our living room gives me unlimited pleasure, so I wanted to re-create this feeling of order and peace in the office.

So, I skipped off to look up computer armoires online. I thought maybe Ikea would have something, since everything else in the office is from Ikea. They had nothing. (Hold the phone, Joan, because this was about two or three month ago.) I tried Dania, Scan Design, Target and even Craigslist. Everything fell into three gloomy categories: moderately affordable pieces made by Sauder (which look like they should furnish a doublewide trailer), affordable pieces in dark tones, which don't match the white and birch furniture we already have, and, lastly, exorbitantly priced pieces that I could not justify buying at this juncture unless I win the lottery (which would be difficult, since I don't buy lotto tickets.)

I was crestfallen and gave up the project temporarily.

Then, just as I thought our computer desk would always be a mass of cables and clutter...I saw this desk on Ikea Hacker (a website helpfully provided by daisymayrobin a while back).

The clouds parted and angels sang in a non-annoying fashion. I LOVE this desk. I hope it is as wonderful in person as it looks online. I am saying a silent prayer to the organization gods to make it so. I will keep you abreast of the situation as it develops.
