Golden Shower Of Hits

There is a new record store coming soon to Greenwood! It is right next door to the Yen Wor Garden and is going to be in the space that was temporarily a fruit and vegetable shop, but since Safeway is about 10 paces away, they didn't do too well and went out of business after about a month.

The record store is called Golden Shower of Hits. I mused about whether it would sell golden oldie type records, but Aaron shared with me that the name actually comes from a Circle Jerks album.

I'll be curious to check them out when they open. And, hopefully, an independent record store in the 'hood can only be a portent of more cool shops in the neighborhood, right?

I'm feeling..... really strange about this store. Okay, so... you're "Golden Shower of Hits", which is kind of punk rock because of the Circle Jerks reference, and then has the added sexual overtone of being peed on. I get it, you're edgy. But then you have a standard, horribly cheesy white banner made with boring big red type to announce you're opening soon? That banner may as well be for a new shoe store for three year olds. Instead, why don't they have brown butcher paper with hand-scrawled opening announcements hanging in the windows, alongside old punk/rock show posters or record covers or something? I think this store has an identity crisis on its hands. You guys will have to let me know if they live up to their selected name when they open!

Yes, it's a condundrum. Aaron and I talked about the "golden shower" reference, too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what it's like. I'll keep you posted!
