Tweed

I finally went to Tweed this past Sunday! Tweed is a tiny boutique on Greenwood Avenue that I pass by every time I go on my neighborhood walk. They have a fantastic display window and I have drooled over the stylish outfits and oh-so-cute purses whenever I pass. I also read a write-up about them in Seattle Magazine that made me want to go there even more.

I was a bit apprehensive about going inside, because those stores can have snooty patootie sales girls that look you up and down and make you feel guilty for not buying a tank top that costs $60 and makes you look like a linebacker. However, the girl working at Tweed was very nice and helpful in a sincere way.

They have clothes by Ben Sherman and Original Penguin and a wide selection of jeans in lots of sizes (not just size 26 and 27, which is refreshing). The prices are in the high range - like over $100 for some of their jeans and also for a lot of the tops and skirts. But they do have more affordable items like t-shirts ($21 to $40) and some really cute Crystalyn Kae clutch/wristlets for $58. (I'm not feeling the bags Ms. Kae has on her site, but trust me, you would love her clutches that they have at Tweed.)

I tried on a few items and found that the size large shirts are in the small range, but I did fit into a size 8 skirt (I'm usually a 10/12), so go figure.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience and although a lot of the merchandise was too pricey for me, I'm seriously considering going back to buy that clutch. It's SO cute!!
