I'm sure you're all waiting with baited breath to hear how my recent product trials are going. Well, have I got some results for you!As you know, I was reticent to try Proactiv, because it is like the Ronco Food Dehydrator of face care - infomercials on Sunday mornings with weepy testimonials from consumers that you're pretty sure are actors. However, I was desperate. And in desperate times, extreme measures are needed. I was also heartened to find that there is a Proactiv kiosk in the Alderwood Mall. It just makes me feel better not to be buying stuff off tv. Ok, so enough blather...I'm here to tell you that Proactiv actually works! It's really drying, so I only use it every other evening, but the shit does what it promises. (Although, I would skip the refining mask. It is stinky.) I even bought the body care line (body blemishes be damned!) and it seems to be working, too.
So, onto Curves. If you're looking for a place to go work out where you can be sure you won't be greeted by scary men in unitards and no necks, then you will like Curves. There are no men there at all and the women that work out there are usually middle aged and not wearing one scrap of spandex. It's not going to get you fit enough for a triathalon, but I'm feeling a bit firmer and it's better than slothing around on the sectional and watching Access Hollywood.
My last and most recent addition to my product arsenal is the Bare Escentuals starter kit. I decided that I liked the bisque (their version of a concealer) quite well, so I took the plunge and dropped $60 on the kit from Sephora. The foundation is easy to buff on and the Mineral Veil really does absorb oil (even in hot weather, I found it all stays put better than my old make-up!). It's a subtle change, but I would recommend it if you are not into traditional foundations, but are looking for more uniform coverage.
So, those are my Consumer Reports, kiddies. And now I am off to troll the internet for more amazing products. Although, I am running out of skin to put products on... so maybe I'll shop for product for Aaron, too.
