We've making some headway on the wedding planning. Who knew there were so many details? My friend Carol, who is co-maid-of-honor with my friend Kris, kindly sent me a wedding planner book. It's filled with information about whether you want your wedding to be formal, semi-formal or casual, which is based on the wedding location, number of guests, and length of the bride's and bridemaids' dresses among other things I never knew. Apparently, ours will be semi-formal. It talks about how to announce your engagement in the newspaper, how to pick a church and other things that we probably won't do. What I am finding most helpful, though, it just lists out every possible nuance about planning a wedding and all the variations that you could imagine for each item.
We also took my grandma's ring to the jeweler to be sized yesterday. My grandma had tiny fingers (size five and one quarter), so they're going to see if they can stretch it fit my finger, which is ring size six and three quarters. I don't have huge fingers, but compared to my grandma, I feel like I have man hands! The jeweler is going to call us to keep us posted about whether or not it can be stretched. The ring has a flower detail etched into the white gold, so the jeweler said cutting it and re-sizing it that way would not be optimal. We'll see what happens.
I went to look for possible wedding dresses at a few vintage stores, since we were already in Fremont at the jeweler's. As I said, am searching for a 60's style cocktail dress. I saw a few dresses at Private Screening, but nothing that had three quarter length sleeves. I checked at the Fremont Antique mall, but I didn't see anything there either. Plus they were burning incense, which just about knocked me out, so I made a hasty retreat. During this brief shopping foray, Aaron spent some quality time looking at albums at Sonic Boom. Shopping with me for dresses is probably about as much fun as jabbing rusty thumb tacks into his corneas for him.
That's where we are with the planning right now. I think Aaron and I may have to set aside some time to discuss specifics, possibly over drinks (I'll get him drunk and make him agree to a Halloween themed wedding!) It seems like we have loads of time, though, but everyone assures me that the wedding will be here before we know it. In the meantime, however, I am trying not to bore everyone with wedding information overload. I notice your eyes are glazing over, so that's my cue to sign off.
